Matthew 9:37–38
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest field.”

What is stopping us?

1. What’s the gain?

“What you tolerate today you accept tomorrow. What you accept today you embrace tomorrow. What you embrace today you promote tomorrow.”
— Mama Bear Apologetics

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.

2. God’s not what I think He should do.

PRINCIPLE: God doesn’t exist to serve us. We exist to serve Him.

Psalm 100:2
Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.
Deuteronomy 10:12
…serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Joshua 24:15
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Romana 12:11
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

3. I just don't God.

Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Psalm 51:10
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

What do we need to do to fully follow jesus?

1. the need for a spiritual awakening in us.

Hebrews 4:12
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

• God turns into

“The cross brought pain to Jesus in the same breath that it brought freedom to you and I.”
— Louie Giglio

• God is

Mark 6:8
“I will provide.”
Hebrews 13:5
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

for God

2. Become of the importance of spiritual focus.

focusing on the wrong places

QUESTION: Are you more focused on how far you have to go, or on where God has brought you?

Hebrews 12:2
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

on Jesus

Matthew 14:25–32
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” 32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.

3. the call to action to live out our faith authentically.

2 Peter 1:10
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling… For if you do these things, you will never stumble.
1 Corinthians 7:17
“Each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them.”

PRINCIPLE: Your faithfulness today is what opens the door of tomorrow.

Remember This: Consistency Beats Intensity
